Travel Tuesday Take 1

I think I'll try and keep up with Travel Tuesday since it's gotten so popular!  This week's theme...

Top Ten Honeymoon Tips

1. Give yourself at least one day after your wedding before you jet off to your honeymoon. You will love having a day to recover. It was also great to not think about packing the week of the wedding when we had a million other things on our minds.

2. Go all-inclusive. We were so thrilled staying at an all-inclusive resort. Not budgeting on our trip was so wonderful!

3. ...if you do go all-inclusive, check TripAdvisor to make sure your resort has great food reviews!  That's one thing you always have to be careful about with all-inclusive resorts. You'll be eating many meals there, so food is really important, yet we often overlook it when travel planning.

5. Check the size of your resort. Our resort only had 54 rooms, and it was perfect!  We went to one of the giant resorts on night, and it felt like spring break!  {NOT in a good way}. Your honeymoon is for relaxing and spending time with your new spouse. You don't want to have to wait in line anywhere or get up early to claim a spot at the pool.

4. Don't necessarily jump on the Honeymoon Package that the resort offers. The included luxuries in these packages are often not anything you'll miss, and the packages are typically overpriced!

5. If you have the choice between a large room and staying more nights, stay longer. We booked a huge suite, which was wonderful of course, but we would have enjoyed a slightly smaller room just as much and probably could have taken a longer trip.

6. That being said, take as loooong of a trip as you can! You probably won't get to go on a long vacation for a while!

7. If you go to the Caribbean, pack bug spray. Not just the normal Off, but the super intense, kill a mosquito on contact sort of bug spray.

8. Pack less than you think you need. No one at your resort will care if you wear the same sundress twice, and many resorts will do laundry for you. Keep in mind that if you go to the beach, most time will be spent in a swimsuit anyway.

9. Don't take your thank-you notes with you, no matter how tempted you are to get a head start on them. They're not fun, and your trip is supposed to be fun All The Time.

10. Last but not least, go somewhere neither of you has been!  It will be your first adventure as a couple!
